FoxRhode Ways N Means aka "Bailey" Owned & Loved by Narelle & Steve Munro - New South Wales |
On Saturday June 19, 2004 with all the anticipation of new parents our family (Narelle, Steve, Riley and Casey) travelled from Sydney to Albury to meet our new baby `Bailey' . I can't describe the emotion of meeting him and then having to hand him back to Kathy and his Mum `Tira' as we were staying overnight in a hotel. At least they had one more night together. The next morning we collected him and said our goodbyes and he travelled in the back seat with my delighted boy's. To this day he remains a great car passenger. We previously had 2 much loved Foxhounds but as they can be quite demanding I looked forward to the calmer nature of a Hamiltonstovare. Happily, as Bailey approaches his First Birthday on April 21, 2005, I can report that he has retained his delightful disposition. As I have 2 Boys - Riley who has a natural affinity for all creatures great and small and Casey who is gentle and at times unsure - I needed to choose an appropriate breed. I would have no hesitation in recommending a Hamilton to any family with or without children. Bailey is just as happy running around playing games as he is laying on the lounge or bed with whoever invites him to join them. Bailey is well socialised. He regularly walks the Boy's to school and he always sits during morning assembly. We often walk him around our little town and we are constantly stopped by passers with admiring comments and of course they all want to know what his breed is. He is such a gentleman that he lays beside me patiently whenever I stop to chat until I'm ready to continue our journey. I also take him to an offleash park where he has made many friends. He is so tolerant of the many and varied personalities. He is just a bouncing bundle of sunshine. Bailey is the only Dog I have ever met who waits to eat and who sits up like a guest at the table to eat his meal. We took him to the Beach recently and he was unsure at first as is usual for him in unfamiliar situations. Eventually on seeing another dog leaping in a rockpool he began to pat the water with his paw and eventually he bravely entered this strange and wonderful aquatic wonderland. He was not so sure about the waves on the beach but sat patiently surveying them and I'm sure next time He will tiptoe a little further in. I have never seen such a lovely coat as that of the Hamiltonstovare. Bailey has the softest and shiniest hair. It is also very easy to maintain. As a suburban dweller with neighbours in close proximity it is a relief to have a Dog like Bailey. He doesn't bark even with a nuisance barker close by. In my experience with my previous Dog's, one dog would start and the whole neighbourhood would follow. When Bailey requires attention he will try to seek me out and give me a sweet little cry and then wait. He only does that if we are home and I have verified this with the neighbours. In closing if you want a loving and devoted dog then you're on the right track with a hamiltonstovare. Narelle & Steve Munro
